“Is This Couch Real Leather?”

Penny
Yes, it’s official: Steve Francis has been traded to the New York Knicks for Trevor Ariza and Penny Hardaway. Pretty amazing stuff, huh? (No, not really.)

But whatever, at least the Magic organization is thinking of the average NBA fan. I mean, first they free Darko for us … now they bring back Li’l Penny? Wow. Orlando is now my seventh favourite team.

Francis Dealt To Knicks For Penny, Ariza [ESPN]

Update: My sources tell me that Francis won’t be a Knick for long. Yeah, according to my sources, Francis is going to be shipped to Denver before the deadline. Hey, let’s keep saying, “my sources”. Anyways, we’ll see…

Raptors GM Search

Okay, now we’re talking…

According to Arizona Republic reporter Paul Coro, the Toronto Raptors are close to bribing Phoenix Suns President/GM Bryan Colangelo out of his desert job.

“Three league sources said Colangelo appears ready to accept the position in Toronto as soon as the “final details,” as one Eastern Conference source put it, are worked out. That would include salary talks that may more than triple his salary, said to be among the bottom third of NBA general managers at an estimated $1 million.”

I say, beautiful. Let’s do it. Come be our Dr. Alan Grant, Bryan. Save us.

Undunkable

Eat My Nuts!

Having watched Nate Robinson dunk over Spud Webb on Saturday, you might think he could give the moon a facial if it too was shaped in the form of a spud.

However, there are 3 things, which are so large, so immense, that not even this possessed man could posterize.

1. Shaq’s size 21 EEE shoe - the Shaqcessory can act as a phone, video camera or remote control car (spinners not included).

2. The not-so-real hair of any of the members of Destiny’s Child.

3. Andre Iguodala’s ego.

“Ahh … My Jacket’s So Loud!”

Jones Jacket

Nash’s Missing Jumpshot … Dirk’s Late Three … The Dunk “Controversy” … Shaq’s Clowning Around … LeBron & Tracy …

Tas and I are going to weigh in on all of the All-Star weekend festivities on this Wednesday’s podcast, but in the meantime, we want to hear from you.

So, leave us a comment; ask us a question; make fun of Damon Jones’ jacket … go nuts. We’ll try our best to address it all.

You can leave your thoughts here on the blog, e-mail us — or better yet — call us on the Jones Line to leave a message, so we can get that sultry voice of yours up on the show: 1-416-519-4778.

Update: The Ultimate Manu?

UW

I wish you weren’t a liar Gregg Popovich …

Manu Ginobli is NOT the Ultimate Warrior.

Yeah, I don’t want to blow your mind here people but apparently the Ultimate Warrior is the Ultimate Warrior. Woooooah.

I don’t know how I over looked this considering the Ultimate Warrior is already in the ‘L’, drops 15 a game, and even has his own shoe deal with Nike, but … but … Woooooah.

Big thanks to Matt over at the fantastic Get Buckets Brigade / Perkolators site for pointing out that he had learned of this incredible fact a few week’s ago.

Yes, I Believe It Is Now Over …

Vinsanity

Somebody cue the Black Eyed Peas because we’re about to get it started / get retarded in here. (Ha!)Yes, the best 3 days of the year are finally upon us: the NBA All-Star Weekend. And well, I’m as pumped as ever for this year’s festivities because a) I finally get to watch it on HD, and b) I’ve got a lot of cash riding on these dumb events. Here’s who I like:

  • The Rookies, Rookie / Sophomore Game:
Yes, watch in awe as Chris Paul and Charlie V triumphantly lead the stars of tomorrow over the stars of about a half a day.
  • Raja Bell Gilbert Arenas, 3-Point Competition
I’m backing Gilbert now Raja only because I need more 3’s on my fantasy team. I mean, they count right? Right?
  • Nate Robinson, Dunk Competition
Here’s to hoping the lil’ guy dunks a Yukon Gold in honor of Spud.
  • Steve Nash, Skills Competition
If Nash can win this event again, he’s a lock for the Top 60.
  • Everyone, Shooting Stars
I win! You win! Everyone’s a winner in the Shooting Stars event!

And the base keeps runnin’ runnin’, and runnin’ runnin’, and runnin’ runnin’, and runnin’ runnin’, and runnin’ runnin’ …
