It’s Time

“It’s time to get live,
It’s time to represent.
Yo, Sunset Park, what time is it?!”
Ben Wallace knows what time it is. He’s getting ready for the playoffs. He was so incensed Friday while playing the Magic that he wouldn’t return to the game when asked to by Coach Flip.
When Big Ben is mad, look out. This is a player that thrives on energy, intensity and emotion. Against Orlando, he was upset with the way his team was playing. The night before, they destroyed the Heat, and they did it again Sunday to Indiana.
He knows what his team is capable of. All these reports that he’s grown tired of playing with the Pistons appear to be quite a stretch.
Ben knows how the Pistons can roll. He is the defensive heartbeat for arguably the best team in the L right now. He is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
He wants another title and he’s going to be pissed until he gets it.

he’s definately not “tired of playing with the pistons”, he’s pretty much a lock to return after he fired his agent isn’t he?
It definitely looks that way. The Pistons wouldn’t have traded a young player with potential that they drafted at #2 (Darko) for cap room if they didn’t think Ben would be coming back.
Every player blows up now and again. From his comments, it seems Ben was upset at the way the team was playing, he wasn’t peeved at the Pistons organization.
he would probably forgo the Flip Saunders offense to go back to the Larry Brown defense.
I haven’t had much opportunity to see Big Pape play, but remember some scouts say he had some Big Ben qualities. Any truth to that after seeing him starting the past month or so, what do you think??
Hmmm… That’s a great question, I remember being so excited when I heard that comparison.
There’s no doubt there are some similarities. Pape has a real passion, a no back down attitude, he’s all over the court, he can jump and he has some rebounding and shot blocking skills. So, there is a shadow of Pape in Ben and given Sow’s skill set, playing the game like Ben would be his ideal scenario.
That being said, they shouldn’t really be mentioned in the same breath. Pape is extremely raw, doesn’t have the muscle development, defensive/shot blocking abilities, steady rebounding skills and doesn’t get after it like Ben.
Given, this is Pape’s 2nd year, but Wallace was ahead of Sow even at that stage of their respective careers. I would like to see Pape get some time to develop with the Raptors to see if he can develop in to something like a Ben Wallace. He is only 24 years old.
