- So you’re Vince Carter. How ya feelin’ right now? The fans love to love you but over in Beantown you see Paul Pierce signing a 3 year, $59 million extension. Five years ago, you both signed identical max contracts. Now, yours expires at the end of the ‘07-’08 season. Are you mad? Disgusted? Or are you ready to make your traditional quick exit to a more preferable destination?
- Whether or not he’s got the right shaped noggin for a shaved head, you’ve got to love Steve Nash’s “I don’t give a crap” attitude about his looks.
- First Greek to get a long term contract! Congrats to Vassilis Spanoulis! Sorry Iakovos Tsakalidis, you just don’t cut it.

I guess by mispelling his name as ‘Tas-aklidis’, my subconscious was letting out the secret that I wanted to be the first Greek-Canadian in the NBA.

Any guesses how he’ll do this year in Houston? The talk over at Clutchfans.net is all over the place. People are still reeling from that Rudy Gay trade (which I liked). Is V-Span a genitic freak like Yao? I could dig it.
The Euros often take time to develop. Spanoulis will definitely need lots of NBA game experience before he makes a serious contribution. Like Jose Calderon and Sarunas Jasikevicius last year, look for his splash to be less than that of a Greg Ostertag cannonball.
And, genetic freak? Wow, these foreign players get played up in a hurry. He has a normal body with above average speed. I’ve watched him play for the Greek National team and he’s a solid player but I don’t see how he’ll make a great impact for the Rockets. Yao drawing defenders will open up lanes for Spanoulis to slash, but beyond that I don’t see much for him in that slow it down style.
