Halperin Joins NBA Live 07 Tribe

August 28, 2006 — Electronic Arts announced a late game addition to its starting lineup of NBA Live 07 stars today at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre by selecting Seattle Supersonics’ Yotam Halperin to join Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Tony Parker, Boris Diaw and Tracy McGrady as worldwide cover athletes and spokespersons.

NBA Live 07 will now feature Halperin on all packaging in his native Israel, Nowitzki in Germany, Gasol in Spain, and Parker and Diaw sharing the cover spotlight in France. McGrady will be the cover athlete in North America and all other countries.

“With the global appeal of NBA Live it is important to us to assemble an All-Star team of international players who reflect our worldwide basketball franchise leadership,” said Keith Munro, VP of Marketing for EA. “These players are superstars on their NBA teams and some of the best players in the world. We believe they truly represent the authenticity and entertainment that NBA Live 07 delivers.”

Unfortunately, Kobe Bryant was unavailable for comment.

Why McGrady for the US?? In probably one of his worst seasons, everyone had high expectations, and then all the injuries came. And he deserves to be on the cover??? I know T-Mac sells, nut how about one of the rising superstars like LeBron, C. Paul, Dwight Howard.

(psss) Rumor for next years cover is Grant Hill.

I fucking hate T-Mac. He seriously screwed my fantasy team last season. If I played video games, I’d boycott this one just because he’s on the cover.

What, no Yuta Tabuse this year?

Hey, if he screwed your fantasy team, how do you think Rockets Fan feel? If anything I’d boycot (and, um, I’m not) because Yao is not on the cover in China. Or anywhere in Asia. How is this possible. Wasn’t he everywhere Tas?

When Dallas plays Seattle, will anyone bill it as “Nowitzki vs. Halperin, a rematch 60 years in the making”?

Where the fuck is Darko? What about all the children of Serbia and Montenegro who are dying to get their hands on the game and who were hoping to see the best player on the Magic on the cover? This is a travesty. I’m boycotting it this year.

And, hell, if they are going to pander to other nations, why not give the US too covers? How about putting Chris Kaman on the cover for all the white guys to buy? Or maybe Chris Bosh for all the black guys who haven’t been put on trial for raping teenagers?

Actually, umm, thanks EA. T-Mac will do just fine.
