Yeah, And Araujo Is A -27

I doubt your hung-over, Sunday retinas care to read this, but the NBA Live 07 player ratings were unveiled on Friday. (Drink some water, you drunk.)

And here’s a fun, slightly disturbing fact — this year the players were rated across 85 categories, up 25 from last year, to differentiate one player from another. Yes, you just read that correctly — 85 categories! What the hell are they ranking them on — the size of their massive di– nevermind.

Anyway, the captivating list reads as a Who’s Who of Basketball Superstardom. (Makes sense.) Here’s a look at the Top 25, courtesy of the good people at AOL Sports:

James, Lebron (97)
Bryant, Kobe (96)
Wade, Dwyane (94)
McGrady, Tracy (93)
Garnett, Kevin (93)
Iverson, Allen (93)
Nash, Steve (91)
Arenas, Gilbert (91)
Brand, Elton (90)
Nowitzki, Dirk (90)
Marion, Shawn (89)
Carter, Vince (89)
Pierce, Paul (89)
Stoudemire, Amare (89)
Duncan, Tim (89)
Kirilenko, Andrei (89)
O’Neal, Shaquille (89)
Artest, Ron (87)
Anthony, Carmelo (87)
Bosh, Chris (87)
Allen, Ray (86)
Ginobili, Emanuel (86) (Tee-hee. “Emanuel”)
O’Neal, Jermaine (86)
Gasol, Pau (86)
Paul, Chris (85)

I guess I’ve got no real qualms with those rankings. Sure, McGrady may be a little too high after last season’s back aching performance, but hey, he is the cover boy, so… (Odd choice that.)

And oh, just so you know, Antoine Walker checks in with a player rating of 79. (Insert “79 points too many” joke here.)

No problems with that top 25. I do have minor qualms with David West being ranked 121 and Mehmet (older fat Elvis) Okur being ranked 152. Awesome still image!!

[…] Kudos to TBJ for steering me to this find, because seriously, the picture confused me so much that it accidentally made me drunk. […]

Yao is tied with Tony Parker, Jason Terry, Rashard Lewis, Boris Diaw, Rasheed Wallace, and behind Josh Howard and Manu Ginobili…They seriously think Yao’s tied for 31st best in the NBA? Please, what a joke.

I think they mixed up their Howards…How in hell does Dwight Howard get ranked that low?

Awww.C’mon..LBJ cant play no D to save his life. You just cant put him #1 unless he does something other than take the ball to the hoop and dunk.

It should read Mamba, Duncan(not even top 10- what!), Brand, LBJ, KG.

Anyone who ranks LeBronze above Kobe is clinically retarded. But, we’ve covered this ground already.

I’m in total agreement with Mark on this one. How can you rank the best center in the league like that. No respect. Did anyone watch him the last month he played? My man averaged 30 and 15. What the heck does a guy have to do.

That’s it. You made me do it. I’m predicting an MVP year from Yao.
