Ep. 173: The Kobe Flip Flop

Just in time for the summer heat!
The Basketball Jones ‘The Fix’ — Episode 173 (.mp3)
On today’s show, Tas and I join the Kobe trade me/don’t trade me discussions. Was all of just a calculated move to get the Lakers’ off-season ass in gear? How do Kobe’s statements affect his current (and future) teammates? Let’s say LA does trade him: Where could he go? What could they possibly get for him? And much, much more…
Oh, all that, and we manage to sneak in a few words about the Finals-bound Spurs. I think.

By the way, this morning’s opening line was from a movie, not a song. First person to name the flick I pulled it from wins a virtual high-five and maybe some Vitamin Water or something…
Was it Eagle vs. Shark?

Ah yeah. I got free fries.
She’s a lesbian. She went to a lesbian party.
It’s from Eagle vs Shark, right?
Eagle versus Shark.
Did you see it? I saw the preview, but I don’t think it even came out in the states. It kind of looks like a Napoleon Dynamite ripoff.
I just figured it was shout-out to Memo.
And it certainly sounds like someone else caught Sid & Nancy on IFC last night.
Also, you both drop “The Michael Jordan of our era” in reference to Kobe? Doesn’t that need some qualification? Jordan was–you know–the best player on his championship teams… won MVPs… never no-showed in big games.
If Kobe is the “Michael Jordan of our era than” I’m the William Shakespeare of blog commenters.
The internets are quiet today.
Greg Norman (great white shark) vs Memo (Sam the Eagle)?
Oh and the movie is: Eagle Vs Shark
I’ll have the orange flavored vitamin water and I’ll take my five up high.
“Tell him ‘Justice is coming’”.
“Justin? Okay thanks.”
Eagle vs. Shark it ’twas. Well played, gents.
And Coach Sloan: Kobe Bryant is the BEST BASKETBALL PLAYER in the game today. Jordan was the BEST BASKETBALL PLAYER in the 90’s. I can’t speak for Melas, but that’s what I was going on…
Might want to reconsider…
Becky, nobody should ever have to sit through Sid and Nancy, on any channel, ever again. Halfway through my first viewing of that movie I was yelling “OD, already!”
Filth and the Fury wasn’t bad, though.
