Ep. 178: Trading In One Trophy For Another?

You might be MVP-worthy Tony Parker, but watch out for Terrence Howard. I mean, look at that hat.

The Basketball Jones ‘NBA Finals Game 2 Recap’ — Episode 178 (.mp3)

On today’s show, Skeets and I somehow muster up the energy to discuss a painful Game 2. Why is LeBron on the bench in the NBA Finals? Will Coach Brown finally decide to speed up the Cavs’ offence? We make our picks for Finals MVP, and much, much, more…

Oh, that, and we hand out a Babgina of the Night award to 2 worthy recipients. Now, that’s a lot of Babgina.

Do Canadians count in the ratings? I hope so, because you guys were probably the only people that watched this game. I checked the score post-Sopranos, rolled my eyes, and changed the channel.

What I can’t fathom is how every single person in the country has figured out the “Larry Hughes should not be playing” business, but “Coach” Brown is oblivious.

    And towels ARE nice.

HHMM parker for MVP? Well I don’t think so. Everything starts and ends with TD.. Yes Parker has been scoring and doing it in a more dramatic way then TD does. But who gives, as TD is scoring, rebounding, dishing and in game one had 5 blocks.. I mean he nearly had a Tripple D last night.. and his deffense on the frountcout is awesome. isnt parker who is allowing rookie boobie to have a PPG of 15. I mean the spurs are out rebounding what everybody was calling a really good rebounding cavs team. uhumm bullshit. TD is the MVP again.

    Best PF of all time.

    Thanks for the Quadrophenia, JD.

Who WASN’T hungover on Sunday? Then my dish crapped out.

I don’t think I’ve watched a halftime show on ABC since the 1994 Super Bowl …

Duncan’s the MVP — dominant on defense, awesome on offense (eight assists?). Tony Parker is dominant on offense, and he’s on the court while the Spurs play defense.

Question: Were the Spurs made for the playoffs or were the playoffs made for the Spurs?

“Fact: Prior to Game 2, the Spurs had played 17 games in 49 days, including one in the last 10.”

It happens when you win a lot. The most grueling sked of the playoffs was the switch between Games 4-5-6 with PHX/SAS. They then had to turnaround in two days and meet the Jazz.

    Meet the Jazz!

Did you guys know you’re banned in China?

Ha. Even the left leaning Toronto Star - often critical of China’s human rights record and treatment of Falun Gong - is allowed to be read in China.

The Chinese government must all be Spurs fans.

    Fuck the Chinese Government!

    The great firewall of bagina!

I am looking forward to the antics of “Coach” Brown this evening.

I find it hard to believe were banned in China. We definitely used to be accessible there. Maybe they’re upset with the pictures I took there - but I get the feeling this is just some shoddy technology.

    Oh, and Dude?
Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature.
    Asian-American. Please.

Becky, the Chinaman is not the issue here!
