Random NBA Draft Thoughts

noah_draftBy now, everyone and their teary-eyed single mother has weighed in on the NBA Draft festivities — see: Shoals, Shanoff, Ziller, SLAM, the Haus crew (including MJD’s Schrutebucks), the TrueHoop Blogger team, Steinz, two FD’ers, etc., etc. But I figured I’d try and do right and get a few quick thoughts up here anyways. So, in no particular order:

My favorite moment of the night was the shot of Yi trying to open a bottle of Sprite. I think it happened pre-draft. Did anyone else catch this? Hilarious.

Before you ask, yes, Tas is freaking pumped that the Raps acquired Greek forward Giorgos Printezis from the Spurs for a future 2nd round pick. In fact, I’ve already received confirmation that Tas has bought (and tucked in) his customized jersey.

Me: Corey Brewer looks like he should be in the next ‘Kings of Comedy’ flick. Becky: Noah = Ugliest. Outkast member. Ever.

If you need me, I’ll be in Europe. Single tear.

QUITE FRANKLY, this STEPHEN A. SMITH impersonation BLOWS. (With that said, some of the Socks’ lines — “I hereby dub, Joakim Noah, the ‘People’s Princess’” — were money.)

I’ve flip-flopped on how I feel about that Sonics-Celtics trade three or four times already. On one hand, it sort of makes sense. The Sonics get to hand the franchise keys to KD, while the Celts pick up a bona fide (albeit aging) All-Star to pair with Pierce in the East. On the other hand, it sucks ass. I’ll save my final thoughts on this (and the Randolph and J-Rich trades) until Tuesday morning’s podcast. Try and sleep at night, OK.

Stuckey is NOT the next D-Wade. Julius Hodge is! How many times do I have to tell you this? Rise, Julius, rise.

Love Utah’s late first-round pick: Morris Almond, a 6-6 human Lite-Brite. The Jazz were in desperate need of outside scoring. This guy should help. Man, Williams, Boozer, Okur, Brewer, Millsap, still AK, now Almond … this is a young and talented team.

I don’t care how well the Hawks drafted last night; those new Bobcat-like jerseys are ugly! I mean, where the fuck is the yellow? Where!?!? You can’t do that! So sad.

That guy’s Stephen A. has nothing on Skeets’s Stephen A. It’s not even close.

    HALLELUJAH!

do you think there was a little double entendre going on when Joakim spent a half hour thanking “Mr. Green, My mentor who can’t be here in New York tonight!” and then giggling and diving into 3 bags of doritos at the same time?

    I love Mr Green!

i saw the sprite bottle, figured it had to be subliminal advertising b/c it took him so long to open it while he was on camera.

How weird is it that his name is pronounced ‘E’

How ’bout the flashback to Mike Conley Sr. throwing it down from the free throw line? Yowza.

And Twins Territory, I loved Tom Nieto. One of the best sports names ever.

If that draft was for NBA podcasts you’d be picks 1-59. Maybe leave 60 for someone from ESPN.
