Ep. 208: Vote ‘Toine!

The Basketball Jones — The Fix — Episode 208 (.mp3)
On today’s show, Tas and I discuss: the best game of the season so far (Celtics vs. Magic); whether T.J. Ford’s gunslinger mentality is helping or hurting the Raptors; a ‘lil Kobe/Bulls rumor you may have heard of; and much, much more…
We also throw full support behind voting Antoine Walker to the All-Star game, spite Whoa Boy it up, and wonder where all the Book It haters have gone?
Today’s overall rating: 3 Sneeds!

Good line Skeets, I’m going to steal it too.
so if Walker plays regular season games like its a meaningless all-star game, does that mean he’s going to bring out the inner Jason Kidd within him in the all-star game and start D-ing up, getting teammates involved, and diving on the floor for loose balls?
Disclaimer: I stole the line from my buddy, Joel, who I’m sure stole it from some B-movie.
I’m sorry Tas, but when you score 29 points on 12-22 shooting AND hand out 9 assists, you are not the reason that your team lost. TJ would not have been taking all of those shots if someone else on the Raps played like they needed to win. Not sure why CB4 decided that he didn’t need to work it inside against GST, I pray to god that he isn’t going VC on us. We got 99 problems, I hope that a Vince ain’t one.
vote toine is the greatest internet movement of all time. screw that sanjaya guy
You might call it a “Sneed Sandwich.”
It’s about time people started focusing on Sam Mitchell. He probably uses the most simplistic offense in the league and never understand when to make adjustments. Our best offensive weapons (Bosh, Bargnani) have become one-dimensional in his gameplan and he’s in love with that TJ Ford iso play for some stupid reason.
You guys need to add an “Ask the Jones” fantasy segment. I can’t decide if I should make a trade for Gil… I need the basketball knowledge of one Tas Melas.
I heard Antoine Walker called in to the Basketball Jones hoping to win a prize.
Unfortunately he thought you guys were handing out bear claws, not ball claws.
D-Rock, you can ask whatever you want, but Skeets can answer that one, and why we picked Gil over LeBron.
I need the basketball knowledge of one Tas Melas.
That is by far the funniest line ever written on this site. Kudos to you, D-Rock. We’ll send you a Ball Claw.
BookIt hater here: please pick the Nets tonight. DWill needs a slumpbuster.
I bet you could put a toddler’s head in a Ball Claw. Probably not recommended though.
Book It haters would probably still be around if they had any money left over for internet access.
Going .500 isn’t going to win anybody money. Even 10-9-1 doesn’t get even money after the bookie gets their cut…
…nonetheless, you guys are on a roll. Keep it going.
Ah, there’s one of ‘em now . . .
haha, nah. i’m not a hater. i think you guys do a hell of a job.
i’m more of a fan than anything - but I also realize that betting on basketball games is a lot harder than one would think.
Ha. I know, I know … I’m just kidding, Chad …
It’s just funny that so many people will kick our picks when we’re on a slide, but disappear when we hit a roll.
Same thing happened last year … and we started even worse!
And next year we’re sitting the first two weeks out:
First 10 games: 3-7
Last 10 games: 7-2-1
yeah, it was a rough start for you guys this year.
I missed checking your site on the weekend - but was surprised to see ya over .500. Nice comeback.
You guys are the Miami Heat of the blogging world…assuming they don’t suck all year long.
Is that Chad Ford?
[…] The Basketball Jones sez about the push to game the Internet voting system and get Antoine Walker on the starting five […]
How immature can you get when ADULTS feel the need to insult someone like Antoine. He works hard, never tells anyone off when he should and does so much community work to help people that need it.
You people are pathetic.
