Ep. 243: Crop Dustin’

The Basketball Jones — The Fix — Episode 243 (.mp3)

On today’s show, Tas and I discuss: the Blazers’ mature youth; the Lakers’ recent injury bug; the Hornets’ surprising jump up our latest Power Rankings, and much, much more …

We also play the “na-na-na, I told you so” card with the Heat, Whoa Boy it up, and seriously consider throwing in the proverbial Book It towel. (Yes, it’s gotten that bad.)

Byron Scott might make a little bit of history as All-Star coach for both conferences. But does Chandler or West get the bid?

Great question, Ryne. We’ll go over our All-Star picks later this week …

The Lakers have 9 games in 14 days i think, they are going to lose a majority of those.

The Blazers are 3-3 on this road trip with the possibility of going 4-3. Travis “Don’t call me Bo” Outlaw has been money all year , Kevin Pritchard looks like a genius signing him to a 3 year deal this summer.

The Hornets continue to impress, but injuries seem to always hit them hard. If CP3 goes out of commission for a while they might be fighting hard for a playoff spot.

Are you guys channeling Pat Riley now? It gets a little rough and you bail on “book it”? You should consider handing the reins over to JD AKA Stan Van Gundy for a while….then you can take it back after he leads a scrappy comeback…and win a championship of some sort….I don’t know how much further I can push this analogy.

I actually really like this idea. I’m calling JD pronto!

Skeets could get a wheelchair after a particularly bad Book It pick.

    >One reporter was physically restrained and had >his credential torn off his neck.

The reporter who was manhandled by the Knicks security was Marc Berman: public enemy #1 in MSG. The one that has a rent a cop trail him everywhere he goes. He’ll be great at dealing with Chinese authorities during the Olympics with all the experience he got in NY.
Of course, next time it will probably be 2 bullets in the head and the gun dropped by his body. Whos gonna stop this? Stern?
Remember when Stern was worried that the players were ruining the image of the league?

Only one game on sunday, so you blow off a show today; I can dig it. But since there is only two games tonight (the Nets game is putting me to sleep which is perfect), so are you doing a half show tomorrow?

Is the JD/Stan Van Gundy comparison because he would be taking over or does JD really look like Ron Jeremy? (please note I am referring to facial resemblance. I feel the need to mention this in case you are tempted to share too much locker room info.)

Now Im off to dream of a sweet sweet Ivanovic/Sharapova tag team.
