I think it’s good that Webber is signing with us. The big man Biedrens played 41 minutes on Sunday. That is alot, especially in a fast paces offense that is the Warriors. Webber will split that up and still do alright.

Fast pace offense and Chris Webber?
Only if they alllow Cwebb to wear this device:

What goes on in players heads. When someone like Webber picks a team do you think he considers the odds of actually playing for a championship? Now dont get me wrong, nothing is guaranteed, but wouldn’t you play the odds and go to dallas, san antonio or phoenix. Or for an even easier path hook up with detroit, boston, and possibly cleveland?

  4. s at 12:57 pm on 01.29.2008

Much thanks to Tas for picking the Cavs as his rising team! Before that i thought my Blazers had a 75% chance at beating the hot Cavs at home tomorrow, but now it’s a lock!

@Tas - I have to disagree with the Webber minutes issue. He’s going to be used like the Pistons used him last year. - 20 mins/game.
@Skeets - Webber is a winner, man. Sac-Town was a W-town when we was running the show.

no one else had their curiosity piqued about the apparent shenanigans that took place in CLE?
    c’mon Tas, dish!

As a Clevelander, I must say that “The Diff” is pretty embarrasing…

  8. KD at 3:14 pm on 01.29.2008

I don’t mind “The Diff,” or the idea of it, at least.

When I’m flipping around, and there are 3-4 games that are ending at the same time, I have to audibly go, “Mavs, plus eight” in order to remember which ones to flip back to.

It must be terribly off-putting to listen into. Some guy going,

“Chicago, plus 12; Orlando, plus two; Charlotte, minus 19; Wizards, plus two … oh, shit, WIZARDS PLUS TWO!”

  9. J.E. Skeets at 3:19 pm on 01.29.2008

We gotta figure out a way to incorporate “The Diff” into our show. Off the of my head: JD chimes in every time one of us says something funny.

    “Skeets, plus 17.”

Loved hearing the Toadies today. Took me back to Grand Bend circa ‘95

In regards to Kobe in the West vs Lebron in the East, there’s definitely a difference in the quality of opponents but it’s not as big as most would have you believe.

Every team plays each other twice, so that means Kobe and Lebron have 58 games of the same calibre. That leaves 24 games with which to look for a difference and at last count the West still has 4 crappy teams (Griz, Clips, Sonics, Wolves - maybe even throw in the Kings). From this perspective (and without officially looking it up), Kobe faces about 14-18 games with stiffer competition - notable for sure but not the major imbalance that all the experts refer to in their analysis.

  11. J.E. Skeets at 3:54 pm on 01.29.2008

Ah, Grand Bend ‘95. Was that the year Ken slept UNDER the van parked in the driveway?

  12. Tas Melas at 4:33 pm on 01.29.2008

Dubby: I do not accept your math. Each team plays teams from the opposing conference two times. That’s 32 games ‘Bron plays vs the west, the other 50 against the east.

  13. J.E. Skeets at 4:43 pm on 01.29.2008

    Two things…

    1. Wouldn’t ‘Bron play the West 30 times in a season? How’d you get 32 off that calculator watch, T?

    2. I still think this is a pretty dumb argument. LeBron would throw up sick numbers out West just as much as he does in the East. In fact, I’d argue that playing an opponent MORE times in a season is perhaps in some weird way an advantage for super stars like Kobe and Lebron …

  14. Tas Melas at 4:51 pm on 01.29.2008

16 teams in each conference mon frere. 16 x 2.

Listen, we have to argue things in the show or else it would be boring. I’m not that passionate about this topic.

  15. J.E. Skeets at 4:53 pm on 01.29.2008

There are 30 teams in the L. Stop watching football.

  16. Tas Melas at 4:59 pm on 01.29.2008

    Yikes.

  17. Dubby at 5:04 pm on 01.29.2008

@ Skeets - I beleive the Ken incident took place post game 7 Raptors loss in 2001 to the 76ers and after u got the boot from a Staggard Crossings/Tea Party concert. Epic, my man. epic.

@ Tas - Check your math, we are stating the same point. Minus Lebron’s West games from Kobe’s, then take off the games vs the crappy teams out West and you get the 14-18 I was talking about.

  18. Tas Melas at 5:06 pm on 01.29.2008

    @ s: I give the Blazers a 5% chance of winning tomorrow.

@ Becky: let’s just say handcuffs, a jail cell and a sweater vest were involved.

  19. Tas Melas at 5:10 pm on 01.29.2008

@ Dubby: I miss you, but not when you piss me off. What about the teams 4 through 12 that are better out west?

  20. Jeff Wallace at 5:14 pm on 01.29.2008

I totally agree with what you guys were saying in today’s podcast regarding Chris Webber. Paint up another handicap parking spot for him because he is too old and slow and as a result will get beat every time on defense. My fear is that by feeding his ego and giving him 25-30 minutes he will ruin all the hard work that team has put in this year. Their locker room is solid, Harrington is being mentored from a variety of positive players on the team and they are winning.

Don, don’t mess with these guys!!

  21. Dubby at 5:52 pm on 01.29.2008

Tas, I think we are really arguing the same point here. I’m saying there is 5 shitty teams (that would still be crappy in the East) out West, leaving Kobe with 9 quality teams he plays one or two more times than Lebron.

    (5 shitty + 9 quality + Lakers = 15 West Teams)

So one or two extra games tha Lebron X 9 quality West teams = 14-18 tougher games than Kobe’s buddy Lebron. Can we finally agree on this?

I miss you too, big guy ;)

  22. Bilal at 6:06 pm on 01.29.2008

the wade clip, f-in hilarious. is that the average age for all nba-ers?

  23. MattO at 8:48 pm on 01.29.2008

Are you actually not going to let Tas talk about the cops in Cleveland? Big mistake.

  24. MattO at 8:51 pm on 01.29.2008

And given that last musical selection I would guess JD saw Juno this weekend.

  25. JD at 10:03 pm on 01.29.2008

Dubby: No Toadies today…. But thanks for helping me realize who Wolfmother reminds me of.

MattO: Juno, No. St Elmo’s Fire, Yes. Stay tuned for some John Parr!
