Ep. 267: You Have Got To Be Kidd-ing, Right?

The Basketball Jones — The Fix — Episode 267 (.mp3)

On today’s show, Tas and I discuss Avery Johnson’s decision to sit Kidd during crunch time. Weird. We also, dive into some MVP debate, take a call about the Sonics from South Africa, hand out a prize, and much, much more. Enjoy.

If he was worried about playing Stack for the last possesion why not run Kidd, Terry, Stack, Howard, and Dirk? Those are your money players

Does Ratliff have to wait 30 days? I thought that was a special rule for players returning to the same team.

Good news on the Hawks ownership, they bought a frame to hang the “wanker-o-the-week” award in their office. Its right next to a picture of Sheldon Williams on draft night (yeah, we probably didn’t need Brandon Roy -or CP3 or Deron Williams………..)

Avery: I’M the general! I’m the GENERAL!!!

Ratliff doesn’t wait for nobody! He’s in pronto. He actually looked all right vs Toronto the other night. The man is built like a truck.

I think Avery was worried about J-Kidd shooting, and he figured if he’s not creating the play, then I’m not letting him shoot. How dumb.

I’ve been to Jo’burg. Balled at a playground in downtown with some locals. Not impressed.

Man, you must really want to get rid of those Heat DVDs because there are 60,000 pages that speak of that topic according to Google:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=slZ&q=donald+duck+towel&btnG=Search

That’s not counting millions of elementary school kids and hacks like Dana Cook who’ve beaten this topic to death since 1930.

Here is one you might not have heard before:
“Hey guys, what’s the deal with airline peanuts?”

Kidd is overrated, but taking him out for MORE OFFENSE is one of the dumbest moves I’ve ever seen. He isn’t a great shooter, but he isn’t Joel Pryzbilla. Kidd can make a shot or obviously create a shot on a broken play. I get Avery wanted real shooters, but having a playmaker out there can be kinda important as well…

It makes no sense even if they didn’t trade half their team for the guy. When viewed through tht prism it’s idiotic. Avery is just jealous of ANY point guard that is better than he was and doesn’t want to put them in a position to succeed. The Lil’ General has a Napoleon complex!

    One Bowen:

    “He is a bitch.”

THAT my friends is why the Jones is a must-listen podcast for NBA fans.

    “On Bowen” I meant. Duh.

Totally agree about the Mavs BTW. They really do look like a much different team. I was skeptical about this trade, but it looks like a pretty good move.

Yo, Grish stole that question from Friends. Don’t give him the DVDs. He’s a fraud.
