Ep. 281: Done Like Dirk?

The Basketball Jones — The Fix — Episode 281 (.mp3)
On today’s show, Skeets and I discuss Dirk Nowitzki’s injury: The Mavs struggled against winning teams with the big German, how will they fare now? Do they have any hope of making the postseason? Will Avery Johnson be fired if they can’t? We also duck for cover during an international war of words and open up the mailbag. Enjoy.

just listened on my wii! zero’s expected back for the west trip, and in 2 years curry is going to be the unanimous no.1 pick. this years top 3 are beasley, mayo, and hibbert/b. lopez. the wiz aren’t a darkhorse, just a good team thats great at running a princeton o with scrappy guys. my 2 cents.
Anybody else excited about the possibility of a Mavs-less playoffs?!
A bigger Chris Bosh? How about a more talented David Lee…that makes as much sense
@bilal:
There is no way hibbert gets anywhere near the top 3. Did you watch that game against davidson? Their tallest defender was 6′9″ and hibbert managed to get a stat line of 6 points, 1 rebound, and 5 fouls. The whole season he has not been impressive at all. And I can’t see how stephen curry could ever be a no. 1 pick. He would have to average something around 45 points a game.
is this the site? http://www.carolinelesley.com
My life is oh so much more complete now that I know that the chick who does your voice overs has training in semi-automatic weapons. Awesome.
It weirds me out to hear her talking about digestive problems.
At least I went 2-1 with my picks.
@Bmatthews: A Mavs-less playoffs would be glorious. But I’d miss the Cubano.
I agree with you guys…Lakers don’t need a PG. Odom’s killing in his new role; they should definitely hold on to one of the League’s most versatile players.
I actually FF right through the on air lover’s quarrel you guys are carrying as filler. I dont miss junior high.
Ok, we can all agree that Dallas’ move wasnt going to push them up a notch but which teams do you think Jason Kidd would have been better suited for what he brings (and doesnt bring)?
I go with the Cavs. You know LeBron is taking all the shots in the 4th anyways. And Kidd had gotten in a rhythm physically playing the Atlantic div and Eastern conference with easy games galore. Its a lot faster at PG in the west.
So the girl who does the voice over has a PHD?

Either is phenomenal ;-0
great podcast guys! I’m going to be in toronto this week any bar/club/restaurant recommendations?
Second link, Papa.
Need more details, Wallace. How many peeps? Is it a bachelor party? Just you and the wife? Etc, etc …
Hey Jones,
Speaking of coaches getting fired, there’s a rumor circulating that Memphis is about done with Marc Ivaroni…any truth to this?
JD! The Mystikal was the shit. Thank god you let the “I came in with my dick in my hand” breath. Made me really happy.
And Brian from S. Africa is a blowhard dolt. You’ve got to stop airing that tripe.
@berto: Davidson isn’t an NBA team. Hibbert will learn how to patent his game to other 7 footers not 6-8 ones. And isn’t that kinda what curry averages now? how much more does he need to show? its only his sophomore season.
Wallace, you are going to want to check out The Keg, East Side Mario’s, The Hard Rock Cafe or The Pickle Barrel. I suggest a soup appetizer, followed by a pasta.
As for clubs, Toronto has a lovely Dave & Buster’s, which I believe takes resos. And you haven’t lived until you have seen the gift shop at the CN Tower.
Let me ask you: will you be requiring coffee and/or breakfast sandwiches?
Skeets, coming in for a business trip. Only have one night to explore. Looking for tips to make it a good one.
Spud - The bars sound interesting.
@Gourmet Spud
Please Please Please tell me you were being ironic, because people are going to look at that and think that Toronto’s best is U.S. based generic food chains.
T.O. has so much more….don’t lead strangers astray…
T.
Yeah, just kidding Tony. But as a twelve-year-old kid in Northern Ontario, that probably would have been my honest answer.
I am loving this international word war its hilariouse.. keep up the good work
