The People’s Book It: Q Dog – Day 1

The Basketball Jones is giving away a TBJ t-shirt and a Ball Claw to the person who can put together the longest streak from now till the end of the season. If you’d like to give it a shot, email us.

DETROIT [-2.5] over Phoenix

It was even hard for me to pick which game to pick, but I’ll go with my Pistons giving Phoenix 3 points at home.

The Pistons have been inconsistent since the All-Star break, but they have a couple of things going for them: they win at the Palace and they know they can beat this Phoenix team (by 30, no less, in PHX). It may even be in the Pistons favor to get in an up tempo game. The 136 they scored last week against Denver seemed a lot easier than the 73 and 83 they scored in their two recent losses to the LeBrons and Wiz.

[TBJ Record: 61-75-1 (45%) | People’s Record: 10-11 (48%) | Q Dog’s Streak: 0 | Mood: Pimp | Food: Cheese, Glorious Cheese]

I like GSW +2.5 over the Lakers. Maybe moneyline. I was at the game last night and the Lakers looked awful in the first half. They literally looked hung-over.

The crowd is gonna be alive. This is gonna be a great game tonight. I’m a Lakers fan, but I see GS winning this one.

I’m not trying to sound like a homer, but tonights game with the Dubs and Lakers, was easily one of the most exciting games of the year. The Wanker of the week should be Bob Delany, for calling an awful offensive foul call, ending a spectacular game in an unspectacular fashion. Even Fisher said he didnt expect a call, and was shocked by it. I wonder how ref’s are disciplined when they make bad calls?

One more thing jones, there’s only 12-15 games left on the season, maybe you guys can start the debate for all-NBA honors. Here’s my 5 so far,

    First team:

Chris Paul-pg, Kobe Bryant-sg, Lebron James-sf, Kevin Garnett-pf, Dwight Howard-C or Amare Stoudmaire.

    Second Team:

    Baron Davis-pg, Manu Ginobli-sg, Paul Pierce-sf, Tim Duncan-pf, Rasheed Wallace-C.

    Third Team:

    Chauncy Billups-pg or Steven nash-pg, Allen Iverson-sg, Tracy McGrady-sf, Carlos Boozer-PF, Marcus Camby-C.

Before you call me a homer, with Baron Davis in Second-team all NBA, consider he has played the most minutes per game all year of each of the contending pgs. Not only that but he doesnt have a clear back-up on his team, he is the PG, there are no other options at point. You can argue Deron williams, but he has two pg’s Ronnie price, and Jason Hart, who do play. You can also argue steve-nash but he has leandro barbosa and he gets mandatory rest at the middle of each 3rd quarter. But not Baron, he has to play every minute for his club to have a chance, in which they absolutley rely on him.

    What are your guys picks?

BTW, I based my picks on top winning teams. Winning should be rewarded.

I know that even having a retarded, constipated monkey leading the Knicks would be better than having Zeke but Donnie Walsh?
Has anyone paid attention to this team the past few years? Under his watch people in Indiana have stopped caring about the NBA.
I know young GM’s with good recent track records like Colangelo dont roam the streets but even Chris Wallace seems to have a plan. Indiana’s collapse isnt seomthing to be proud off. Then again, its the Knicks were talking about and that retarded monkey seems ready to sign with the Heat instead.

    First team:
    CP3-pg, Kobe-sg, Lebron-sf, Amare-pf, D.Howard-C
(and Im willing to downgrade Kobe because he tanked the first 3rd of the season)

Why Amare over KG? He only plays on one half of the court…

  8. Jimmy at 12:35 pm on 03.25.2008

The best player on the best team in the NBA, has to be a First-team All NBA…case closed KG over Amare.
