A million thanks to Ball Don’t Lie reader Nick.
Comments (3)BDL Bedlam Brackets

Day two of the completely pointless, albeit oddly entertaining, BDL Bedlam Tournament is in the books. Thanks to some help, I’ve compiled a list of 64 things that you may or may not love about the NBA and seeded them into four regions. We’re unveiling all 32 first round match-ups over the course of this week, but 11 of them are already up. Voting will remain open until Sunday.
Kobe Region
– No. 4 Stan Van Gundy vs. No. 13 Andrei Kirilenko’s once-a-year deal
– No. 5 Tim Duncan’s bank shot vs. No. 12 Jeff Van Gundy
– No. 8 Pistons’ Zoo Crew vs. No. 9 Gilbert Arenas’ blog
– No. 1 Kobe Bryant vs. No. 16 ‘NBA super fan’ Drew
– No. 6 Mutombo’s finger wag vs. No. 11 Dirk’s fadeaway jumper
– No. 3 Greg Oden’s GO-hawk vs. No. 14 Big Ben’s headband
– No. 7 Dwight’s Superman vs. No. 10 Gerald Green’s cupcake
– No. 2 Rockets’ 22-game winning streak vs. No. 15 Lakers’ ‘Lights Out’
West Region
– No. 4 Draft day suits vs. No. 13 ‘Where Amazing Happens’
– No. 5 David Stern vs. No. 12 ‘Tommy Points’
– No. 1 West playoff race vs. No. 16 Walter Herrmann’s hands
Go, vote, don’t die.

Washington [+1] over PORTLAND
Today I have to go against the hometown Blazers in their matchup with the Bullets Wizards. With Roy in a mini-slump, Aldridge banged up from the Seattle game last night, and the DC crew riding a 3 game tear, the points are right for a road victory. Sure there will be no Agent Zero, but Butler and Jamison combined with a more active Haywood will seal the deal in the Rose City.

DETROIT [-2.5] over Phoenix
It was even hard for me to pick which game to pick, but I’ll go with my Pistons giving Phoenix 3 points at home.
The Pistons have been inconsistent since the All-Star break, but they have a couple of things going for them: they win at the Palace and they know they can beat this Phoenix team (by 30, no less, in PHX). It may even be in the Pistons favor to get in an up tempo game. The 136 they scored last week against Denver seemed a lot easier than the 73 and 83 they scored in their two recent losses to the LeBrons and Wiz.

The Basketball Jones — The Fix — Episode 281 (.mp3)
On today’s show, Skeets and I discuss Dirk Nowitzki’s injury: The Mavs struggled against winning teams with the big German, how will they fare now? Do they have any hope of making the postseason? Will Avery Johnson be fired if they can’t? We also duck for cover during an international war of words and open up the mailbag. Enjoy.

LA LAKERS [-7] over Golden State
So I guess I got it right yesterday? Who knew? Today I got the Lakers over the Warriors. The Lakers are at home where they have a 24-8 record, meanwhile the Warriors are only 19-15 on the road. It’s inching closer to playoff time and I know Kobe and the Lakers want to maintain their current number one overall seed in the west for that all important home court throughout.

PHOENIX [-7] over Houston
Phoenix has had a couple of days off so they are rested. Meanwhile, Houston is back to earth after their very impressive streak and are going against a Suns team that BADLY outsizes them.
