Skeets, never say ‘GS’ again, please.

  2. Ryne Nelson at 10:55 am on 04.11.2008

Tas, you couldn’t be more correct. Baron’s trip-dub was the quietest I’ve ever seen. Doesn’t deserve the Whoa Boy.

  3. J.E. Skeets at 10:56 am on 04.11.2008

Yeah, because your fantasy team really cares whether it’s “quiet” or not.

  4. Devine at 10:57 am on 04.11.2008

Cold Money appreciates the energy today, Skeets. Next time, I’ll try to avoid the Favreau-in-Swingers/Will-Ferrell-in-Old School-style phone call.

And J.D., impending second fatherhood has you hot like fire, spinning Foreigner, Dre 2001, “White Lines” … you’ve been so good of late that I’ll even forgive the Goldfinger. Congratulations to you and your family.

  5. Ryne Nelson at 11:10 am on 04.11.2008

Devine, I love how you pronounce it “Rap-tors”

  6. goathair at 11:28 am on 04.11.2008

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that Skeets bought There Will Be Blood this week.

  7. Devine at 11:38 am on 04.11.2008

@ Ryne: I mean, it’s not up there with Skeets’ Battier, but I appreciate the love.

  8. Cold Money at 11:44 am on 04.11.2008

Excellent show, thanks guys. Congrats and lucks to JDs.

Also, that was “The Message” not “White Lines”.

  9. Devine at 11:48 am on 04.11.2008

@ Cold Money: You’re right, and that was absolutely inexcusable — early morning brainfart. My apologies to the whole gang — Flash, Melle Mel, Cowboy, everyone.

  10. Ramiro at 11:49 am on 04.11.2008

i know this question is in no way related to basketball, but is “There Will Be Blood?” a buy, a rent, or a wait until it comes on basic cable?

A couple of other things to like about last night’s Warriors / Nuggets game:

    (1) What in God’s name was Doug Collins talking about when he went on a 2 minute rant about J.R. Smith and the difference between “Emotion” and “Passion”? Maybe on the next broadcast, old Doug can explain the difference between animals and elephants.

    (2) During the Mic’d Up segment with Al Harrington, they cut away to a horrifying live shot of Harrington on the bench, looking like a middle-schooler who had just had his braces taken off. He was sitting there (obviously not knowing he was on camera) licking his teeth for a solid 8 - 10 seconds. High awkwardness.

  12. BMatthews at 12:54 pm on 04.11.2008

I was so upset about those Bennett emails, I don’t even really care about the Sonics but you can’t just openly screw a city that wants its team, ESPECIALLY if its under the guise of “good faith”.

Also: Oklahoma City Sonic Boom(ers)? whats with that?

  13. Gourmet Spud at 1:09 pm on 04.11.2008

Big congrats, JD. The other listeners and I got together and bought you the “Hipster Baby Einstein” cds.

Experts say that listening to The Hold Steady while in the crib really helps a child develop a sense of what Bruce Springsteen used to sound like.

  14. Devine at 1:19 pm on 04.11.2008

@ Gourmet Spud: Studies have clearly shown that playing The Hold Steady for a baby in the womb increases by 61 percent the likelihood that he/she arrives ripping high.

  15. Jordan Ginsberg at 1:33 pm on 04.11.2008

    Fact: babies love killer parties.

  16. Jimmy at 1:39 pm on 04.11.2008

    Hey Jones’s

Congratz JD, on your child…Monta can be a unisex name btw…I keed, I keed.

Thanks for showing the Warriors the love today by not playing Barry-White, I would hate for the dubz to get classed with the knicks, heats, and bucks…uggh sorry fans but you guys only have bright days ahead.

I’m so depressed that the Warriors lost. I can tell by your voices today, that you guys were more sad that the Warriors lost, than the Nuggets winning.

An Idea for your award show, why dont you guys create a category, that hasn’t been done yet.

Like maybe best X-factor, or an all Fantasty NBA team, and maybe best Where “…” Happens commercial.

keep up the good work jones!

  17. Alan at 2:06 pm on 04.11.2008

Congrats JD, and way to bring the energy on today’s show. “SUPRISE!” Either he is really excited for his new baby or just trying to show off for the reporters in the booth

  18. Devine at 2:49 pm on 04.11.2008

@ Jimmy: I’m not sure if it was a typo or not, but I f’n love the idea of “fantasty” being used to describe killer J-Smoove stat lines. Good on ya, sir.

  19. goathair at 3:50 pm on 04.11.2008

There Will Be Blood is a buy if you like Daniel Day Lewis. Otherwise, it’s a rent.

  20. Tonto the Hun at 4:03 pm on 04.11.2008

Dont be such Toronto douches: the Glebe is Toronto’s paper, not Canada’s.
Just because Grange’s promo reads like BS doesnt make its true (just like Canada’s basketball team BS).
1/3 of this country could care less about what english canada does and the ROC despise the TO center of the universe mentality. Oh yea,… fuck the Maple Leaves!!

    What went wrong with GS?
Yesterday GS took 100 shots, had 18 TO’s and about a dozen missed layups…
Capt Jack choked the past 7-8 games.

  21. Will at 7:32 pm on 04.11.2008

Yeah, ditto on the Rap-TORs pronunciation. I was cracking up for a while.

As a Colorado native, I just can’t get behind the Nuggets. It’s terrible. I’ve got a Nene jersey that I wear proudly. I like AI. I love Najera and Kleiza. But every game I watch, I end up rooting for the other team. I really wasn’t happy last night when faced with the option of a Baron-less playoffs as compared with another first round exit for the Nuggets when everyone saying “well, Nene played TD really well…we just hit a buzzsaw.”

I’ll go to a playoff game, I’ll root hard, but I won’t be surprised or depressed when they get bounced.

Congrats JD. You’re a mothafucka. You should play “fathersday” by snoop and x when it all happens.

    — “We offer you the bond of family that very few podcasters can understand.”
    — Milkshake …
    — “I’m an oilman, you see!”
    — “As long as there’s oil, there will be blood”

Wow. Believe it or not, the two of us DIDN’T plan that out. How messed up is that?

  23. J.E. Skeets at 9:40 pm on 04.11.2008

And by the way, you will NOT be embracing Saturday or Sunday.

  24. Bilal at 8:35 pm on 04.13.2008

The Kings are probably next year’s Hornets if they can find a money point guard in the offseason. Reggie Theus is deff turning them around.

  25. Bilal at 8:41 pm on 04.13.2008

And you said Quran’s name in ep. 291 too Skeets.
