The People’s Playoff Book It: Pressurez – Day 2

Playoff time! The Basketball Jones is giving away a pair of Adidas basketball shoes to the person who can put together the longest streak of picks during the postseason. If you’d like to give it a shot, email us. Once a wrong pick is made, we’ll email the next contestant. The best streak, shared by three, is three! Pressurez, looking for 2:

San Antonio [+4] over NEW ORLEANS (home team in CAPS)

Spurs cover the spread and win, three reasons:
1) Ginobili’s ankle is better healed than West’s back.
2) Expect the big three to play 40+ minutes, something only reserved for game 7s.
3) We don’t know what the Hornets can do in a close game. I expect the Spurs to hold a slight margin at the half, again, and then a battle for the last 24 minutes of the series. Experience will triumph.

[Pressurez’ Streak: 1 | Longest Streak: 3 (Three-Way Tie) | Mood: Papa needs a new pair of shoes| Food: Gazpacho]

    1. Nice dress shirt / jersey combos from the 4 Spurs fans in attendance tonight. The lesson, as always: if you’re going to be the only opposing fans in the stadium, try not to look like total doofuses.

    2. How late does Marv Albert stay up after drinking a cappuccino at 11:00 p.m.?

    3. Jannero Pargo running the Hornets offense in the 4th quarter? Shouldn’t one of your 2 All-Stars (or at least one of your starters - Peja, are you still alive?) be creating on those final few possessions? I can’t imagine Duncan, Ginobili and Parker deferring to some random like Ime Udoka in the final period. Granted, Paul was
winded for the last 10 minutes or so of the game, but it felt like at any minute he was going to turn it on, only it never came… Just a bizarre turn of events right when it looked like the game would come down to a duel of the stars (ala Pierce/LeBron).

    4. Charles Barkley just submitted the worst Ric Flair impression ever. Seriously, that was horrible.
