Mike Brown went to the Finals last year!
How can you guys not mention him in the “bad coach goes to the finals”.
From an espn live chat today…
“Bill Simmons: (1:16 PM ET ) Mike Brown/Gregg Popovich was the biggest coaching mismatch in Finals history.”
Mike Brown is an interesting case. Offensively, he often appears to stink up the join, but defensively, he has created one of the best defensive teams in the L. One could argue that, even with Lebron, it was an impressive coaching achievement getting that motley crew into the finals.
I agree w/the mention of Mike Brown. I was screaming him out when you guys seemed to be grasping for a bad coach.
2 other notables:
–Brian Hill
–Paul Westphal (?) not sure because he hasn’t done anything of importance since then.
Brian Hill, FTW.
loved hearing some Atmosphere today before one of the breaks… nice one JD.
Tas, ain’t nothin wrong with wearing a beater. Matter of fact, I’m doing that right now. What’s your casual attire? Frilled collar and long sleeves?
Way to give props and point out the reason an experienced, well rounded Pistons team lost the ECF in 6 games, on their home court, up 10 heading into the fourth. Deep down, in his crazy little world, Sheed wanted to lose. Paul Pierce who? Defense what?
Two mentions of David Stern pulling some kind of string, a classic Kevin McHale reference and even a bit of Doc Rivers reader hate mail for good measure. Real classy way to break down that other team that the Pistons beat themselves to.
tas dog!
where did you see that video of the reign man hooping it up??
links?
No mention of Whoopi Goldberg? She was a limo driver they pulled from the stands, for Christ’s sake!
What a difference a year in hoops makes. When Minnesota were playing Memphis on the last day of the regular season in 2007, do you think KG and Gasol had any thoughts of playing each other in the 2008 NBA Finals?
Forget the David Stern conspiracies… this Finals matchup was orchestrated by Jerry West and Kevin McHale. A former Laker and former Celtic. Coincidence? Maybe.
Murphs, just a pic here. Sorry, brozere.
Matt: Great post.
So had the Bulls waited another few days, they could have had Flip instead of a Tom Collins?
Paxson has screwed up things so often that Im not even sure they might not trade the top pick.
My vote for clueless coach has to go with Sam Michelle, I dont care what you Toronna homers think.
Yeah, because Smitch has gone to the NBA Finals …
By the way, Flip just got fired. It’s nice when we’re right.
It’s never fun to see anyone lose a job — well, anyone not named Isiah — but my sympathy at Mr. Saunders’ loss is severely mitigated by the fact that he’s a grown fucking man who still goes by “Flip.”
Any podcast today fellas?
> Murphs, just a pic here. Sorry, brozere.
Damn, he looks fit enough to have another dozen kids!
J.E., were you seriously last in your fantasy basketball league on Yahoo? Rank 12 of 12? I just saw your BDL profile.
Bilal I saw that too like a month ago. I came in first and second in two leagues I was in :D
Me first also.
Ok lets not get outta hand here with the bragging bub
Devine: do you feel similarly about Ronald Murray?
Tas and Skeets: I want royalties for the Detroit Braves concept. I emailed that to you a week or two ago. You read it aloud. Then Jon Barry mentioned it on the air. Now you’ve named an episode after it. So, please, royalties. Send me 1/18th of a Jones shirt every time this episode is played until I have one full shirt.
