Talented Players Are A-OK
I don’t smile very often. I mean, what’s the point. Your mouth is just gonna come back down to it’s normal position anyways. But this, a little comment from Knicks Head Coach Mike D’Antoni, made me lift my lips:
D’Antoni also said he was “extremely pumped up” about the potential of Wilson Chandler, the Knicks’ first-round pick in 2007. “He’s got a lot of skills…”
So, he’s excited to see the more talented people on his roster play? Instead of giving minutes to an overweight Quentin Richardson or an even more overweight Eddy Curry, we might see some skill on the floor? Say what you will about D’Antoni, but he’s going to put the most skillful players on that Garden wood. He’s going to do exactly what every fan and media member was begging Isiah to do last season. Now, we’ll see what kind of talent this roster has. New York deserves that and I like it too. No matter how good or bad this team is, we’re forced to hear a billion stories re: the Knicks. At least this way, there will be some talk about good players making good plays.

Imagine that — a Knicks team with some gifted athletes on the floor. My heart’s all a-flutter.
That said, Tas, your smile might not be warranted: KD’s BDL column this morning indicates that common sense might not be reigning supreme in the new NYC regime (at least, not yet).
I’m wired to hate the Knicks, but I’ve always liked D’Antoni. Can’t wait to see the new-look Knicks in action. Should be interesting.
